5 Steps for Building Self-Confidence in the New Year ๐ŸŽŠ #mondaymotivation

Happy New Week; here’s a little Monday motivation to get your week started…
Self-confidence is an all-important trait you need to acquire in today’s fast-paced world. For one thing, you must have confidence in yourself first to earn the confidence and respect of others. The following strategies may be useful to overcome such self-conquering thought habits. Consider these steps as the building blocks for greater confidence in any aspect of your life. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

1๏ธโƒฃ Concentrate on your strengths rather than on your weaknesses.

Confidence comes from within. You have to concentrate on the positive things about yourself. Remember the past is over; you can only change the future. Write down ten positive things about yourself. Concentrate on your potentials. These are the reasons you should love yourself and have high self-confidence in yourself. Give yourself credit for every positive thing you have written about yourself. Remember, you’re somebody special. ๐Ÿ’–

2๏ธโƒฃ Remind yourself of past successes.

Confidence builds on past success. Because you had success before, you can (and will) have it once more. We strengthen our confidence in any interest when we remind or review ourselves of past successes. If you are trying to develop confidence in a new aspect, past success can still be useful in strengthening our confidence. For instance, if you had success in doing something new in the past, recall those experiences when trying something else new even if it is in a completely different part of your life.

3๏ธโƒฃ Take risks.

Try doing things that you’ve never tried before. It’s always a little bit of a challenge in doing new things and just the act of accepting these challenges, some little and some big, whether we are successful or not, frequently improves our self-confidence. Approach new experiences as opportunities to learn instead of occasions to win or lose. Doing so brings you new opportunities and can improve your sense of self-acceptance. Not doing so turns every possibility into an opportunity for failure, and inhibits self-growth.

4๏ธโƒฃ Use self-talk.

Use self-talk as an opportunity to contradict destructive beliefs. Then, remind yourself to stop and replace more realistic assumptions. For example, if you catch yourself expecting perfection, tell yourself that you can’t do everything perfectly, that it’s only possible to try to do things and to try to do them well. This also allows you to accept yourself while still working to improve.

5๏ธโƒฃ Visualize your future success.

Corporate executives, Olympic athletes, and successful people in all types of undertakings see future success. Confidence will increase when we visualize ourselves succeeding. Think about it. If you know you will succeed, your confidence will soar, right? Seeing future success does that very thing for us. Our minds cannot distinguish the difference between something real and something vividly imagined. So vividly visualize your success. What will it look like, smell like, taste like, and feel like to have succeeded? Who will be with you, what will you be hearing and where will you be? How will you be feeling at that instant? Placing this much vivid detail into your mind increases the likelihood of success, and supports greater confidence! Apply these steps in your daily life and your confidence will soar in the New Year ๐ŸŽŠ

Are You Ready To Be Happy This New Year ๐ŸŽŠ

Happiness is a "now you feel it, now you donโ€™t" emotion.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ 

I know this from personal experience and from hearing of the experiences of others.  Sometimes Iโ€™m very happy, other times, sad, joyful, contented, frustrated, and sometimes very neutral. 

Several years ago I had no reference point for the word happy.  I knew technically the meaning of the word, however, the experience eluded me.  Joy I could do, happy for some reason, no.

One day during a workshop the word happy was demonstrated to me with much laughter from the audience.  Now I not only get "happy" but remember it also as a fun experience.  

There are many small things that can make me happy as well as give me endless joy.  Iโ€™ve listed seven simple ways toward experiencing a happy moment, but the first check you have a reference point to the word happy.  Find out what happiness really means to you? 

1๏ธโƒฃ	Remember or create a โ€˜happyโ€™ moment.  When you live the experience of โ€˜happyโ€™ your mind and body will remember.  Feel the happiness in all parts of you, expand this feeling if need be.  Practice this daily.

2๏ธโƒฃ	Access the Present moment.  Notice what happens to you when youโ€™re totally focused on a comedy show on television, when you listen to light-hearted music or when you dance - even if itโ€™s on your own.  I sometimes groove to a tune in my office when no-oneโ€™s looking โ€“ it makes me feel good, cool, give me a break from what Iโ€™m doing and I laugh at myself! 

3๏ธโƒฃ	Invite friends over for some playtime.  Organize paper, crayons, paint, and colored pencils, whatever you can think of and do some drawings or paintings.  You could also ask each person to bring along a plate of food.

 4๏ธโƒฃ	Spend time with nature, go for a walk down the beach or park; observe wildlife in your area or visit a plant nursery.  Notice your mood when amongst the spirit of nature.

5๏ธโƒฃ	Take something with you that gives you great pleasure such as a book, journal for writing or your MP3 player and sit and "Be" under the canopies of trees for a few hours.

6๏ธโƒฃ	Learn something totally new such as another language; pottery or painting or start your meditation, personal or spiritual development program.  Youโ€™re only ever limited by your own imagination.   

7๏ธโƒฃ Join a club or group that you have an interest in.(like my Facebook group)๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Unleashing Your Mask You can then expand your friendship base with other like-minded souls. 

With any of the above activities assess what and how youโ€™re feeling as well as where you feel the emotion and how much are you laughing, grinning, or smiling?  Remember them totally by living the experience and you will then be able to recall this memory when you want to.

Include to memory your experience colors, smells, sounds, and tastes โ€“ all the better for remembering your happy time with.

Quiet time spent alone can open the door to the possibility of connection to that most amazing and magical part of you that is your true self, the spirit within.๐ŸŒŸ

From my experience, the key to a happy life begins with remembering who you are, know what gives you enjoyment, be present, and know that regardless of your circumstances no-one can take away your thoughts or dreams, they are yours to keep for as long as you wish.๐Ÿ’–

Weโ€™ve all heard the clichรฉ โ€˜The grass is always greener in our neighborโ€™s yardโ€™. What they donโ€™t tell you is that his grass still has to be mowed, watered, weeded, raked and fertilized.

The Buddha was the first to recognize that emotional pain can be just as real and debilitating as physical pain. Through careful observation he determined that people were good at spending time on their physical hygiene, but spent little or no time on mental hygiene. He believed that the key to finding happiness was in relieving oneโ€™s emotional suffering and that the best way to reduce this suffering was by controlling our emotions.

Just as a good mother watches where her children go, the wise man watches where his mind goes. One of the harmful emotions that the Buddha taught we need to watch is envy.

Envy is time spent wanting what our neighbor has instead of time spent enjoying what we have. Now itโ€™s true that when used properly envy can be a terrific motivator. The problem is that real envy — always wanting more and then discovering that more still isnโ€™t enough — is difficult to control.

The Buddha taught that the way to achieve happiness begins with turning negative thoughts in to positive ones. The successful landscaper knows that for his lawn to thrive it needs to be weeded and fertilized. The person seeking happiness can begin by following his example and weeding out any negative thoughts and then planting positive ones.

Many people believe that happiness is just a winning lottery ticket away, but true happiness is not based on how much we have, but on how little we need. Happiness is accepting, appreciating and enjoying what the world has to offer. True happiness can only be achieved if we spend more time weeding out envious thoughts rather than in trying to match or better our neighborโ€™s lawn.

Just because an elephant is the biggest doesnโ€™t mean heโ€™s also the best animal in the jungle.

Sometimes it is as simple as taking the time to look back at how far youโ€™ve come instead of always looking ahead to where you want to be. When was the last time you took a moment to pat yourself on the back for the things you have accomplished?

Besides, maybe your neighbor works harder at his yard than you do, or maybe heโ€™s just luckier. Is matching or bettering your neighborโ€™s accomplishments really that important? We all get to choose how we spend our time.

Stop looking at your neighborโ€™s yard and start enjoying your own, thatโ€™s what itโ€™s there for. Weed out the envy and youโ€™ll find your whole outlook improving.

Sometimes you are so overwhelmed with endless work or studies, family and friends. You find that you donโ€™t have the time to do anything. So how exactly, do you organize your life and create more hours in a day?

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸพGet yourself a planner!

Write down everything that you need, your groceries list, your phone, your appointment dates. Write everything down inside there. Then in your planner, make a to-do list for your day. Donโ€™t make a list that you canโ€™t achieve. Like for instance, you would like to complete a paper by today. That is impossible isnโ€™t it? Break your large tasks into small actionable tasks. Then make a to-do list for the week. This is an extension of your daily list. What you canโ€™t do today, you can do tomorrow for that week.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸพBe effective with your activities!

Do all your shopping at one go. Donโ€™t go to the store to buy your milk now, then in the evening, drop by to buy toilet paper. You are wasting your time. Compile a shopping list and do all your shopping at one go. Another example will be to pay your bills all at one time instead of paying them at different times.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸพMulti task

Do you have to wait at the dentist for an appointment and at the same time you have to write that important paper? So whilst you are waiting for the dentist, bring your piece of paper and brainstorm about the ideas you use to write in your paper. Load the washing machine and whilst waiting for it, send some emails, or do your calls.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸพAssign a time frame

Set a timeframe for your tasks each day. Give a time slot for each item and plan your day properly. For example, you have to go to the dentists at 11 and you also have to buy groceries. So while you are out of the house, put your groceries shopping at 10 in the morning and then you can go to the dentist after that. Then you can go straight away home. You are saving time and saving on fuel too instead of two trips out of the house.

So what are you waiting for? Get your life organized and you will find that you have more hours in a day to do everything!

Father, I ask You for a fresh vision for what breakthrough will look like in my life. Help me to pursue healing while I wait for my miracle. Show me how to rest right in the middle of the storm. Help me to enjoy the feast You prepare for me, right in the middle of the battlefield. I want my whole life to testify that thereโ€™s a God in heaven who knows my name and who will get me safely home. Fill me afresh with the wonder of Your love and power. I am determined to win this battle with anxiety. Help me to discern when to rest, when to feast, and how to actively engage my faith as I wait for You to breakthrough. May my life display Your power. Do the impossible in and through me, I pray. Amen.
