10 Mental Health Journal Prompts 💚

▪️Keeping any type of journal will help with improving any mental health issues. I personally use a prayer, manifestation, and goal journal!!

▪️All 3 of them serve a different purpose, but all are good for keeping my mental health intact!

▪️Any type of journal that you keep can be beneficial. It doesn’t matter if it’s just to document your life or to work through problems – you can use a journal to do it all.

Here are 10 journal prompts to get you started:

1️⃣ In detail, describe how a perfect day would look to you.

2️⃣ Write a letter to someone who negatively impacted you and how it affected you.

3️⃣ What do you wish people would understand about your illness.

4️⃣ Write something that surprises you about your illness.

5️⃣ Describe how you feel about yourself.

6️⃣ What difficult thoughts or emotions come up for you.

7️⃣ What do you fear most?

8️⃣ How does your mental health affect your business, life, and relationships?

9️⃣ What do you love most about yourself.

🔟 List 3 important goals you intend on accomplishing…mental health goal, business goal, life goal!


Use this prompts as much as you need to, writing down your thoughts and feelings will do wonders for you self-esteem, confidence, and your mental health! 💚

It’s World Mental Health Day 💚

As someone who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, I celebrate my mental health every day! World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year. This day tries to create awareness about mental health issues.

▪️Despite the progress we have made, there continues to be stigma related to mental health, especially in the African American community!!!

▪️As you go about your day, take time to educate yourself and speak with a loved one! We are fighting battles you wouldn’t understand!

▪️So I celebrate those of you who are suffering, and those of you who suffer in silence! I hope that my story inspires, educates, and helps someone get the services they need!!!

💚Remember YOU are not alone…
💚YOUR illness doesn’t define you
💚YOU are not attention-seeking
💚YOU can’t just snap out of it
💚YOU are not a victim
💚YOU are a survivor

6 Tips To Better Mental Health Today💚👇🏾

💚I know that dealing with mental health issues can take a lot out of us, but in order to perform at your best in your business and life, here are steps you can take starting today, to help you along your way!!! 👇🏾

This is a tough one and a big one for most of us!
Reducing your stress means either cutting stressful situations out of your life or dealing with stress differently. Incidentally, exercise can do both.

Sleep is the big difference-maker in life. A good night’s rest helps you to feel better the next day and when you feel better and have less stress, you eat better as well.

Drink plenty of H2O. At least eight, eight ounces glasses a day should do it. This is not only for overall health, but it also aids in digestion and will often cure that pesky afternoon stress headache as well.

Take time for yourself. If you meditate, do yoga, journal or pray. Spend time each day in one of these activities. They have been proven to lower stress and center your body and mind.

Focus on what you did right or what you ate that was right instead of what you did wrong. Positive reinforcement leads to long-term change.

Online or in person. Having someone or some people to share your journey with will encourage you to stay at it even when the going gets tough.

Self Love Sunday💖

Trying to win love from others is a losing battle, when you focus on self-love and self-compassion rather than trying to get others to build you up you become happier with yourself!

Loving yourself is hard especially if you suffer from mental health issues, we tend to believe the lies of anxiety and depression!

If you feel like loving yourself is too hard or cost tons of money, here a few things you can try right now that don’t cost you a dime and can be should be done immediately:

🔸 Say “NO” when you need to:
Boundaries are an essential form of self-care because they let others know that you deserve and expect respect.

🔸 Don’t COMPARE yourself to others:
Others aren’t better or worse, more or less than you, sis! They’re just different. You have value just as you are and accepting yourself means there’s no need for comparisons…period!

🔸 Be HONEST with yourself:
This one can be harder than it seems. Some of us as so good at self-deception that we don’t even know we’re doing it. Honesty is key in all relationships and your relationship with yourself is no different. (Ya’ll know how big I am on self-evaluation)

🔸 Practice GRATITUDE:
Gratitude is one of the simplest ways to focus on the good in yourself and in your life. Remember there is always something to be grateful for.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month💜

Every year during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month I share this photo, because this was one day before I checked myself into the mental hospital! I sat like this for about 3 hours until they came back after running test, dismissing my complaints, and told me to go take it easy!😒

That put me over the edge, no one believed me, not my family, not even the doctors! I went home that night and created a plan to end my life. Now, let me be clear having suicidal thoughts doesn’t mean I don’t believe in God, it also doesn’t make me demonic! Just because you don’t understand why someone would think this way, doesn’t mean you get to demean it!

As I see everyone sharing every awareness month but mental health and suicide doesn’t mean it goes away! You have people right now that are afraid to share their thoughts and how they are feeling because they are afraid of the backlash and the rolled eyes! Guess what….I’M NOT!!!

Yes, I tried to commit suicide, not one but several times! And not one person ask me why? So the next time you see your strong friend, church member, family member, or co-worker who’s starting to slip away…please check on them!!!

And if you are someone who suffers from these thoughts, YOU are not weak, YOU are not playing, YOU are not overreacting. I believe you and will be here for you when you need someone to talk to!!! I’m a mental health advocate not because it sounds good, it’s because I AM MENTAL HEALTH💚

I’m also not brave for sharing my story, I’m have a right to! A right to save my sisters and brothers who are suffering in silence!!

Wellness Wednesday Tips👇🏾

👉🏾Work, family, financial challenges, Covid-19, and all the other stressors in the world can really take a toll on one’s emotional wellness. It’s not easy to be happy and enjoy life if your emotional health isn’t at a high level. While many of life’s ups and downs are beyond our control, there are a lot of things that are within our control.

👉🏾 There are several things you can do to increase your emotional wellness that won’t cost a penny or require a lot of time.

Practice these strategies and positively affect your emotional wellness:👇🏾

1️⃣ Move more.
Your brain and your body are connected. You feel your emotions in your body. If you move around more, your body will be healthier and better calibrated to your environment. Sitting around too much increases the likelihood of feeling stressed or depressed.

2️⃣ Address any financial challenges you’re facing.
There are only three basic strategies for addressing financial challenges: Worry about them, ignore them, or address them.

Find a solution to your financial woes and begin working on it. The other options only result in stress and misery either today or in the future.

3️⃣ Get enough sleep.
Your brain and body are a mess if you’re not getting enough sleep. Find a sleep schedule that works for you and stick to it. Everyone has different sleep requirements.

4️⃣ Let go of expectations and focus on gratitude.
Misery largely results from unmet expectations. Spend some time each day focusing on gratitude rather than being annoyed that life, you, or others, have failed to meet your expectations.

5️⃣ Limit your obligations.
A simple and meaningful life is the best option for most people. Keep your life simple by avoiding optional obligations that don’t add anything to your life.

▪️When your emotional health is high, you have a solid foundation for enjoying many other aspects of life. Review the tips above ☝️🏾and pick one to implement today.

Sunday Self~Care Tips

Sunday isn’t the only day for Self-Care; this is actually something you should be practicing daily. There are weeks I often forget this, and my mind, body, & spirit will become weary.

So let’s look at some ways you can start practicing self-care! 👇🏾

✴️Take Care Of Your Spirit:
Prayer and Meditation often go hand in hand; I usually do this every morning 🌅 reading scriptures and meditating on His word! This is also an excellent time to practice mantras and do a little journaling.

✴️Take A Social Media Break:
I’m usually on social media for business, but often there are times that I will take a break and shut my phone 📱 off for a few hours! Trust me; you’re not missing anything! This gives you a chance to read 📖 or be creative.

✴️Take Care Of Your Body:
🗣LISTEN TO YOUR BODY; if you are not sleeping, running on E, you need to rest 🛌!
Not sleeping can cause all kinds of problems; your body wasn’t meant to do it all! Set boundaries with yourself and say NO! And don’t forget to make the necessary doctor appointments!

✴️Take A Break If You Need To:
If you want to sleep all day, do it! If you want to curl up with a good book and not fold the laundry, it’s ok! Taking a break can actually be really helpful; it gives you a chance to recharge and refresh! Remember, let go of the guilt over taking care of yourself! 👉🏾 It’s essential to your well-being that you consistently take the time, even in small and simple ways, to support and care for yourself.
