14 Days of Self-Love❣️Self-Care Tips for Relieving Stress

Feeling stressed? Join the club! It seems that these days, feeling stressed is just about the default emotion for many of us. The problem is that we often don’t know how to handle or control those feelings.

That’s a real shame, given just how simple and easy it really is to get feelings of stress and anxiety back under control. Follow these 7 self-care methods you can use to raise your spirits. Self-love/care isn’t selfish…remember that☺️

1️⃣ Breathe

Breathing correctly is a powerful method for fighting anxiety. Look into something called “belly breathing” for an idea of how to do this.

Another tip is to try using specific breathing exercises, such as the fourfold breath. You can learn many of these from yoga. (I learned this in my coping skills class, works wonders) 💪🏾

2️⃣ Take a warm bath 🛁

A warm bath provides a time to just relax and focus on yourself. Moreover, the warm water will relax your muscles, while any scented candles can further lull you into a state of calm. (Bathtime should be something you do at least once a week) ☺️

3️⃣ Eat something wholesome 🍎🥒🥦🥗

Eating triggers the release of serotonin. Very often, when we are very stressed, it is actually at least partly because we have not eaten recently. As such, our blood sugar is low and we have high cortisol! (I’m not a BIG fan of eating healthy, but the Keto diet worked wonders for me )

4️⃣ Exercise 🤸🏾‍♀️🧘🏾‍♀️

Exercising also triggers serotonin. It’s also a great way of reminding ourselves that we are in control, and that we can do something productive and healthy if we so choose. (So they 😂, I hate exercising 🤦🏾‍♀️)

5️⃣ Listen to up-beat music 🎧

Music can help to guide and shape your emotions. Upbeat music is particularly effective when it comes to stimulating a great mood, and helping you to forget your troubles. (A little rap music 🎶 doesn’t hurt anybody💃🏾)

6️⃣ Talk to a friend

Talking to friends is an excellent way to improve your mood. Humans are social animals, and as such, we are wired to spend time with other people. Not only that, but a good friend can help talk you through your stresses, or at least distract you from them with some lighthearted chat. (Good friends help make life better) 💕

7️⃣ Meditate 🧘🏾‍♀️

Meditation teaches you to rise above emotions that are dragging you down, and to take conscious control over your attention, and your mood. This is a powerful tool, and one that everyone can benefit from.

To get started, just find a quiet place, sit down, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. If you find your mind wanders, then just gently bring it back to your breath. 💪🏾

Hope these tips help you are your journey to loving yourself more…❣️
