It’s Mental Health Awareness Month

Here we are again with another month to educate and teach about mental health. I still can’t believe people still don’t get what this illness is??🤔 Just because we don’t look sick doesn’t mean we’re not. And NO, we just can’t get over it dammit!!! I’m proud that I’m no longer in that dark place like I was last year and the year before that. I’m happy I found therapy and meds. Thanks to all my friends who put up with me and took the time to understand how my brain was reacting. Shout out to the brave souls who are still battling this illness on a daily basis, we have your back!!!! Continue on your road to recovery! Chat soon…

Welcome, My name is Olivia Shepherd, and I am the founder of this awesome blog about depression and mental illness. I started this blog in 2016 after being diagnosed with Major Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I didn't have anybody to talk too or share my feelings with, so I decided to share them publicly to help others. I'm passionate and dedicated to bringing awareness about mental health, especially in the African American community. I also want to empower your voice to speak up and fight the stigma surrounding this illness. I’m also the founder of AshesToBeauty Mentoring & Outreach, a virtual online service dedicated to to the positive development and accelerated recovery of girls and women who have experienced abuse and depression, Ashes To Beauty strives to empower women to take their lives back by providing life skill education, one-on-one mentorship and impactful personal tools by which these impacted women can build the foundation for a successful future. Look forward to having you read my blog, 𝓞𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓲𝓪 𝓑. 𝓢𝓱𝓮𝓹𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓭 💋

  1. Mental health is so real! I’ve been trying to check into mine but I haven’t found the right therapist just yet. But I’m working on it!

  2. Keep sharing and bringing an awareness to mental health. As you said, a lot of people are still clueless and don’t understand that.

  3. My mental health has been all over the place! With teaching, auditions and just everyday struggles I NEED a vacation! Hopefully people will be educated more and know that it’s more serious than ever!
