Feeling Thankful This Morning!!

Good Morning all, woke up feeling pretty good today. Besides the drowsy feeling I’m still feeling from being sick all week, other than that I’m Good. I got up a little late, packed the dog in the car and headed to the park. Today I played music on my iPod instead of the doom and gloom news, hell I don’t care to hear about the orange dictator they elected, lol! I set out for my walk and I bounced my plump butt around the park twice, I didn’t even realized I was walking so fast. I was dancing and grooving to my music like I had no care in the world. Oh what a sight I must have been to the park rangers, lol this crazy lady dancing in the park. It’s been such a long time since I woke up in a great mood, I didn’t sleep to well from all the coughing but I didn’t let that bother me this morning. I’m so Thankful God hasn’t given up on me when I give up on myself, each night I go to bed wishing it would just all end. To my surprise He keeps waking me up, so I know it’s for a reason. I don’t exactly know what it is just yet, but I be damned if I’m going to miss out on it. Ya’ll know I don’t like to get to happy over these moments for the fear of losing it, but today I’m going to try hard and stay upbeat! I’m going to get my nails done, do a little thrift store shopping, and maybe find something good to cook for Sunday dinner. Hell I think I might take my son on a mommy/son date, lol if he let me!!! I dream of days like this and I’m not going to waste it….stay tuned for pics of my day!

Welcome, My name is Olivia Shepherd, and I am the founder of this awesome blog about depression and mental illness. I started this blog in 2016 after being diagnosed with Major Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I didn't have anybody to talk too or share my feelings with, so I decided to share them publicly to help others. I'm passionate and dedicated to bringing awareness about mental health, especially in the African American community. I also want to empower your voice to speak up and fight the stigma surrounding this illness. I’m also the founder of AshesToBeauty Mentoring & Outreach, a virtual online service dedicated to to the positive development and accelerated recovery of girls and women who have experienced abuse and depression, Ashes To Beauty strives to empower women to take their lives back by providing life skill education, one-on-one mentorship and impactful personal tools by which these impacted women can build the foundation for a successful future.
