Note to Self #3

Well it’s half-time and my Tigers are trailing 14-7, making my nerves super bad. Had a pretty good day today, but ran into some trouble when someone ask that one damn question? “Why are you depressed ” ? *blank stare*๐Ÿ˜ณ! They also mentioned how strong I was, only if you really knew!!! I’m tired of masking my feelings for people, depression again isn’t something you just snap out of! One of my friends described it as having a “moment”, it didn’t bother me that he said it, just wondering if anybody takes this seriously!! I guess once I’m dead then they may then believe it… note to self, I will continue to speak about what I’m going through even if you don’t want to hear it. I’m uncomfortable trying to make you comfortable and it’s killing me. Yes, I know it’s so hard to believe that I can’t seem to get a grip on life right now. But I will get pass this like I have a lot of things, and it may take some time. So I might be having a “moment” for a while, but in order to heal I have to start talking about it and I mean a lot!!!  Believe me I know more want to dwell on it as much as you don’t want to hear it. Be patient and this to shall pass….chat soon!!

Welcome, My name is Olivia Shepherd, and I am the founder of this awesome blog about depression and mental illness. I started this blog in 2016 after being diagnosed with Major Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I didn't have anybody to talk too or share my feelings with, so I decided to share them publicly to help others. I'm passionate and dedicated to bringing awareness about mental health, especially in the African American community. I also want to empower your voice to speak up and fight the stigma surrounding this illness. Iโ€™m also the founder of AshesToBeauty Mentoring & Outreach, a virtual online service dedicated to to the positive development and accelerated recovery of girls and women who have experienced abuse and depression, Ashes To Beauty strives to empower women to take their lives back by providing life skill education, one-on-one mentorship and impactful personal tools by which these impacted women can build the foundation for a successful future.
